The 60th Anniversary and final day of the annual sports meet of ‘Valvettithurai Nediyakadu Young man Sports club’ (NYSC) is held at the Valvettithurai NYSC ground here on today. The event is headed by Mr. K. N. Devathaas, the president of NYSC.
Divisional Secretariat of Vadamaradchi North, Mr. R. T. Jeyaseelan participated as the chief guest. Mr. Velum Mayilum (AGA, retired), Mr. Kumarasingha (O-I-C, Police station, Valvettithurai), Dr. Mayilerum Perumaal (Orani Hospital), Mr. Vethaaparanam (President, Football league, Point Pedro), Mr. Thavaneswaran (G.S, Polikandy) has participated as the special guests.
The events have commenced at about 1700 hours and continued till 03:00 hours.
Sports events were organized in several categories 2 months ago for the men as well as women for various sports events such as Football, Cricket, Billyball, Races, Fancy dress, Boat race, swimming, Boat race by oars, Cycle race, etc. In all, it is believed that more than 30 Sports clubs have participated in the events.
A Palali based, ‘Valvai Vinmeen’ Sports club has bagged the first prices in sevaral events.
In the girls’ event, Valvai Vinmeen Sports club bagged the price in Relay where Aathisakthi Sports club bagged first price in Tug of war.
The meet also witnessed a host of many events with the Players of NYSC as well as other Sport clubs, thus witnessing participation of people from Valvettithurai and other parts of Vadamaradchi as well.
The NYSC is the 2nd Sports club which has been formed after Valvai Revady Sports club.
